While Quin and Gavin do most of the day-to-day operations, we are blessed to have all three of our children and six grandsons involved in the operation in some way. Founded in 1990, Black Summit Cattle began with a simple goal: to raise cattle that would truly make a difference for our customers. Tracy and I brainstormed the name on a calf-buying trip, settling on "Black Summit" because we believe in reaching the pinnacle of quality in everything we do.
Over the years, we transitioned from focusing on Angus to SimAngus in 2009. This shift wasn’t just about change for the sake of change; it was about offering our customers cattle that calve easy, grow well, and thrive in the West. Our SimAngus cattle combine the best of both breeds—calving ease, growth, and adaptability—qualities that simplify our customers’ operations and boost their bottom line.
